UP Visayas received free IAMSLIC Digital Fisheries Library Box donated by the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center-Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC-AQD), in celebration of its 45th founding anniversary.

The IAMSLIC (International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries and Information Center) Digital Fisheries box is a virtual fishery library device that contains over 26,000 aquatic and marine science publications, reports, articles and documents, which includes SEAFDEC publications, that can be accessed by users thru WIFI-Enabled devices such as smartphones and laptop.

The device was given to fourteen state universities and colleges (SUCs), including the UPV, during the Book Launching event of SEAFDEC last 12 July 2018 at the Multi-Purpose Hall, SEAFDEC/AQD’s Tigbauan Main Station, Tigbauan, Iloilo. The recipient schools were: University of the Philippines Visayas; Aklan State University; Capiz State University; Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College; University of Antique-Tario Lim Memorial Campus; Bicol University; Mindanao State University-Naawan; Western Philippines University; Bohol Island State University; Samar State University; University of Southern Mindanao; Iloilo State College of Fisheries Main Campus; Central Luzon State University; and Mariano Marcos State University.

Ms. Analiza G. Linaugo, University Librarian, received the device on behalf of the UPV.

The device can be accessed at the University Library in UP Visayas Miagao Campus through WIFI connection name: IAMSLIC Digital Fisheries.

This virtual library box is part of the mandate of SEAFDEC/AQD to disseminate information on aquaculture.
